Had a 25km day planned today but the pouring rain stopped me at 15km. My “waterproof” boots were getting wet so I thought I’d stop before they got soaked inside, which would ruin many days for me.
As I sit here watching my laundry spin around, I am fearful that I may have lost the momentum of my enthusiasm to complete this walk. I got a little spoiled in Leon and have to refocus my purpose here. The next few days are going to be physically challenging and I will need the mental attitude to get through it. Not sure how to do that. It is so easy to quit and take a bus to Santiago. If I did that I would regret it the rest of my life.
The other thing is the bedbugs. I met a woman yesterday who got bitten so bad in Leon in a private pension that she had to go to the hospital for shots. They wouldn’t let her into to the next place until they took everything in her pack and disinfected it and sprayed her pack. As I am sitting here in the laundry room a young couple dumped the contents of their packs into the washer/dryer because they had an encounter with the little critters.
Now I am just making excuses. Forget about the bugs.
There are only 12 days of walking left and I am going to do it!!!
I can use all the support I can get…
